At the joint press-conference with the president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that both Azerbaijan and Georgia are following the same path of development and this process can't be stopped by anything; Mr. Ilham Aliyev underlined the fact that these two nations are connected by the "historical memory of friendship".
Ilham Aliyev mentioned that Azerbaijan was always assisting Georgia and supported it in hard times. "Your success is our success as well. I can state that these days Georgia is attractive for investors and investments worth billions of dollars had been made in the country".
President of Azerbaijan expressed satisfaction regarding the fact that Azeri investors started to believe in investment capabilities of Georgia and actively invested their finances in the development of Georgia. In this respect, he mentioned the construction of the oil terminal in Kulevi as well as the petrol station by the company
SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, Ltd, the amount of which at present equals 38.
"We are connected by the links of friendship and fraternity.  We have a united historical memory. We need to try hard to enhance our partnership in future. The oil and gas pipeline projects serve not only our nations but also global security. Therefore, our nations make their great contributions in this" - stated president Ilham Aliyev.
At the end of the meeting,   president Ilham Aliyev and president Mikheil Saakashvili had a face to face meeting with a wider composition with the participation of the delegation, including, ministers of Energy of Georgia and Azerbaijan Republic Mr.Alexander Khetaguri and Mr.Natik Aliyev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan Republic to Georgia Mr. Namik Aliyev, president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev, vice-presidents of SOCAR Mr. Elshad Nasirov and Mr. Vagif Aliyev as well as Director General of SOCAR Energy Georgia, Ltd, Director of the Representation of SOCAR in Georgia Mr. Mahir Mammedov.
